The Black Arms
Ch 1
One year had passed since Tails and Shadow, with Cosmo's and Omega's help, destroyed Metal Sonic, Metal Tails, Metal Knuckles, and Metal Shadow. Sonic had taken the time to teach Tails and Cosmo the homing attack. Nearly everyone had forgotten what Galaxina had said. Shadow the Hedgehog stood in a park at the outside of Westopolis, a look of deep thought on his face. He had taken Galaxina to the safest place he could think of- Space Colony: Ark. Except for Shadow, no one ever really visited the Ark. Galaxina had done some snooping of the records of the Ark. She had found pieces of his past that weren't pretty, but she didn't hold it against him. After all, having your memory re-written by the person who created you in order to get revenge for Maria's death wasn't something he could control. She had become upset when she saw that he had nearly died, though. She hadn't let him out of the Ark for a month. They had gotten closer, and gone on things other Mobians called…dates. He wasn't really sure what it was all about. They had even run into Tails and Cosmo on one as well!

Shadow frowned. "For what purpose do I exist?" He asked himself. "Shadow, you know the answer to that" A familiar voice said. Shadow looked at his left wrist. On the red wrist guard behind his power-regulating bracelet was a video communicator Tails had built as an early birthday present. Galaxina had the other one. "You were created as the Ultimate Life-Form" Galaxina said through the communicator. "I know there is another reason….." Shadow said, "There is a memory….of being told about being created for another purpose….besides the Ultimate Life-Form…besides peace……but I can never remember what it is! What are the missing pieces of my memories hiding?" Suddenly, the sky turned red and the clouds swirled. A large number of alien creatures with black and red bodies dropped down and started attacking the city. "Shadow" a dark voice said behind him. He turned to see a strange black and red creature, known as Black Doom. (I'll include a picture, as I don't know how to describe him.) "As you can see, the day of reckoning will soon be here. Find the seven Chaos Emeralds and bring them to me….As promised." With that, a laser landed between Black Doom and Shadow and smoke blinded Shadow temporarily. When the smoke cleared, Black Doom was gone. "Who was he? How does he know my name?" Shadow asked. "That was Black Doom, leader of the Black Arms" Galaxina said, "I, however, don't know how he knows you or anything about this 'promise'….sorry" "Well then…." Shadow said, his face set in a determined expression, "I guess the answer to the mystery of the secrets of my past lies in collecting the Chaos Emeralds!" With that, Shadow ran towards Westopolis.

Tails grunted as he tightened the last screw in a machine he had built into the pillars around the Master Emerald. "There! All finished! The security system is now active!" Tails said proudly, and Cosmo hugged him from behind and kissed his cheek, causing him to blush so hard, he was imitating the color of Knuckles' fur. "Alright." Knuckles said, "How does it work?" "If the sensors indicate anyone except Sonic, you, or me, it triggers a reaction that lowers the Master Emerald into a secure department below ground." Cosmo smiled. "He's so smart!" She said, but then tripped. She landed near a sensor. A red siren blared and the ground under the Master Emerald opened up, revealing that it was on a metal pedestal. The pedestal lowered into the dark recesses of the ground before the ground it had sat on closed. "Wow." Knuckles said, "at least I know it works." The sound of explosions had gotten their attention. Different cities around the world had swirling red clouds dropping black and red aliens. Cosmo curled up, hugging her knees to her chest. "The Black Arms….They're here…." Cosmo said fearfully. Tails and Knuckles nodded to each other. Knuckles dug underground and headed towards a canyon. "Let's go, Cosmo!" Tails said, "We're going to kick our invaders off this planet!" Tails said, his fur becoming slightly shaggier as his Kitsune chakra flowed through him. Cosmo looked on in awe as Tails' power became visible, surrounding him like a veil. "It's all my fault!" Cosmo sobbed, "If I hadn't come here, they might have never come to your world!" Tails knelt down and placed his gloved hand on Cosmo's shoulder. During the year, he had re-designed his gloves so that they wouldn't tear if he went into full-beast form. His shoes he had made so that they slipped off easier before he transformed into full beast form. Tails had the katana Shadow had given him strapped to his back angled so the hilt was above his right shoulder, and wore a brown pilot's scarf around his neck. Cosmo had approved of his new look, saying that it made him seem like a brave warrior. "Cosmo. Listen to me. Don't blame yourself. There is no way of knowing that the Black Arms are looking for you." "He's right, little sister." Galaxina's voice came from a yellow communicator Cosmo wore on her left wrist, "Shadow is helping Sonic drive them out of Westopolis. The Black Arms are interested in the Chaos Emeralds for some reason. Shadow is going to collect the Emeralds for  himself. He's concluded the Emeralds are connected to the deep, hidden secrets about his past, or at least the parts he can't remember."

"Disgusting black creatures. Get out of my sight!" Shadow said as the last of the Black Arms fell in Westopolis. He was clutching the green and blue Chaos Emeralds. "That was sweet Shadow!" Sonic said. Shadow smirked. Doom's Eye floated by and stopped in front of Shadow. (I'll include a picture too). "Our soldiers have secured the third emerald in this city. There's no time to waste here. Keep going." Black Doom's voice came through Doom's Eye.  "I guess that means... Welcome to the next level! Let's go!" Sonic said before dashing off. "Wait up!" Shadow yelled, running after him.

"Tails. We have a problem." Galaxina's voice came through the communicator. "What's wrong Galaxina?" Tails asked. "I…umm….hacked into the G.U.N communication array. Listen to this. You're not going to like this." Galaxina's image disappeared and turned into one with a G.U.N soldier briefing the Commander. "The black aliens have hit six major cities around the world, and every city is reporting significant damage and casualties. Among them, Westopolis has received the heaviest casualties, due to its weakened defense system. Downtown Westopolis has almost been completely destroyed. Unconfirmed sources have also reported seeing a black hedgehog in Westopolis." "Shadow?" The Commander asked, "Deploy the troops now! And if you see Shadow with the black aliens, then kill them all!" Tails looked at the scene confused. "But sir! Isn't Shadow on our side, sir?" The G.U.N soldier asked. "I gave you an order, soldier! He's evil, and he's the enemy!" The commander ordered. Galaxina's image re-appeared. "This isn't good" Cosmo, who had been watching the scene, said. "Why does the G.U.N commander have an issue with Shadow?" Tails asked. "I don't know." Galaxina said, "I fear for his safety, though." "Tails! Sir!" A G.U.N soldier said, running up to him and Cosmo, as Tails closed the communication link. It took all of his self-restraint to not show any anger at the G.U.N soldier. It wasn't his fault he was basically ordered to try and kill Shadow for no reason. "What is it?!" Cosmo snapped. "Umm. The President would like for you two to recover the 400 rings Eggman stole from all around the world." Cosmo was about to object, Tails placed a hand on her shoulder. "Sure. We'll do it" The G.U.N soldier saluted the two Mobius heroes and left. "Why did you do that?!" Cosmo screamed at Tails, making him flinch. "Sorry." Cosmo said, realizing she had just yelled at him. Tails opened his workshop door and brought out a one-pilot walking mecha that turned into an aircraft. It was mostly blue with some yellow stripes. Tails' symbol-two honey colored fox tails were on the machine at the front and on the legs, which could become wing fins and a propulsion system. This was the Cyclone. Tails jumped out of it and put the white Chaos Emerald in the front of it. "Shadow is seeking Chaos Emeralds." Tails said, "And we might run into him." Cosmo nodded. "So, I'm going to have Shadow help us collect the rings and then give him the Chaos Emerald. Maybe some of the G.U.N agents will see Shadow isn't bad and question the Commander's actions." Tails explained. Cosmo pulled him into a quick kiss and exclaimed, "Tails, you're a GENIOUS!" "Climb on!" Tails said from the pilot seat of the Cyclone. Cosmo grasped onto handle bars on each side of the cockpit and sat on the machine behind Tails. "When we see Shadow, jump down on the nearest sturdy ground. I will 'drop' the Emerald and 'spin out of control'. Once out of Shadow's sight, I will use Chaos Control to send the Cyclone back home. I will then meet up with you two and complete our mission. Besides, it's the President who requested this mission for us, not G.U.N. The President likes Shadow!" The door to Tails' workshop closed and the Cyclone took the sky, heading for a place simply known as "Circus Park".

Shadow said nothing as he retrieved the yellow Chaos Emerald from the Black Arms after defeating a beast called Black Bull. He and Sonic had easily smashed the alien's escape tank. This was his third Chaos Emerald. Vaguely sensing a forth one some distance away outside the city, Shadow used Chaos Control to teleport towards the energy of the Chaos Emerald.

Tails' ears twitched. "I feel something approaching." Cosmo said, looking around. "I know that energy…" Tails said, "That energy is the one found in the Chaos Emeralds. There are three nearby." "Look!" Cosmo said, "It's Shadow!" "You know the plan" Tails said, winking at her. "Wait. How can we sense the energy of the Chaos Emeralds?" Cosmo asked. Tails was surrounded by the red chakra of the Nine-Tailed Fox and spaced out……
CUTSCENE:
A giant red fox with nine tails was sitting near a relatively young Mobian fox couple. "YOU HAVE HELPED ME A GREAT DEAL BY TELLING ME WHERE I AM." The Nine-Tailed Fox spoke. "BY HONOR, I AM ENDEBTED TO YOU. HOW CAN I HELP YOU?" "Well…" the male fox said. "We want kits of our own, but something is wrong with our bodies. We may never have a kit of our own" The female said before sobbing. "I MAY HAVE A SOLUTION…" The Nine-Tailed Fox said, "MY POWER HAS GREAT HEALING CAPABILITIES. HOWEVER, UNLESS YOU ARE A TAILED-BEAST OR ARE EXPOSED TO MY POWER SINCE BIRTH, IT WILL KILL YOU. IF ONLY THERE WAS SOMETHING POWERFUL THAT I COULD FILTER MY POWER THROUGH, LEAVING ONLY THE HEALING CAPABILITIES…." The male fox sat up. "The Chaos Emeralds! They are said to contain unlimited power! Legends say that they are on this island!" He said, before running out.
CUT SCENE TIME SKIP-ONE WEEK LATER.
"I'm back!" the male fox said, obviously winded. The fox dropped a bag and seven gems dropped out. "ALRIGHT, SET THEM IN A CIRCLE AROUND YOU." The Nine-Tails said. The fox couple did so. "HERE WE GO!" The Nine-Tails said before pumping his chakra into the Chaos Emeralds. The Emeralds glowed and expelled sickly grey energy out of the red energy. Then seven beams of chakra, the color of the emerald it was being fed from, went into the fox couple. The beams ended as the Nine-Tails cut off the chakra supply and the foxes smiled at each other. Just before they could thank him, the male grew seven other tails and the female grew 5 more. "What is this?" the male asked. "IT SEEMS THERE WAS A SIDE-EFFECT TO HEALING YOU. MULTIPLE TAILS. THIS PHYSICAL TRAIT I BELIEVE WILL BE PASSED DOWN THROUGH YOUR DESCENDANTS. I MAY HAVE ACCIDENTLY TURNED YOU INTO A NEW SPECIES…..KITSUNE" The Nine-Tails said.
CUTSCNENE END
"THAT"S why!" Tails exclaimed, "The chakra given to the first Kitsune was laced with Chaos Energy! Kitsune have a connection to the Chaos Emeralds!"
