The Black Arms
Ch 3
"Tails! Sir!" a G.U.N agent said, running up to Tails and Cosmo as they walked home, "The President is being evacuated to a G.U.N base. We would like your support in keeping him safe." Cosmo looked at Tails. "We'll do it." Tails said, "Just let me get a machine I built to head into space." "Yes sir!" The G.U.N agent saluted, before handing Tails a paper with coordinates on it. "This is the location of the ship we're taking the President on." The soldier said before running back to his squad and driving off in a jeep. "I'm sorry Cosmo. I guess you'll have to stay in my house a little longer. I can't complete your house with the Black Arms attacking our planet." Tail said apologetically. "Don't worry." Cosmo said as they entered the workshop, "I can wait." Tails pulled a curtain off a machine. It was red and held the Cyclone at the front of it. The windows were at the front of the machine and it was slightly in a half-circle shape. In the flattened back, multiple rockets thrusters sat. "I haven't named it, but I designed it for short-range space travel. It has enough room for almost everyone in our group." Cosmo and Tails climbed into the machine and it took off.

Shadow skated along the forest. He was getting increasingly angry at the G.U.N soldiers shooting at him, which forced him to slow down to dodge. "I swear…..if I didn't remember my promise to Maria…..those soldiers would be going down!"  Shadow growled to himself. Galaxina nodded at his exclamation through the video screen, but said nothing. She was getting frustrated at the soldiers herself. "Those guys are idiots" Galaxina said to herself.

Tails had landed his machine on the G.U.N warship and started walking through the hallway. Overhead, the President's escape pod was being lead by a track to where it would launch. Black Arms broke through the windows and started firing whatever they had available at the escape pod. "Not on my watch!" Tails said, unsheathing his katana, "Chaos Control!" To Cosmo, Tails seemed to vanish and the Black Arms fell to the ground, dead. Tails re-appeared a little farther down the hallway. "Tails! Wait up!" Cosmo said, running to meet him. "From what I sense….." Cosmo said, "There are 30 Black Arms left." Tails nodded. "Very well. Let's show them that Mobians are not to be messed with!" The two ran on, following the escape pod.

"When will this jungle end?!" Shadow screamed. "You are about halfway there. Now go! Time is of the essence!" Doom's Eyes spoke. "Hmm. Very well then. You know the truth behind my past. I won't let anything get in my way." Shadow ducked under a bullet fires at him by a G.U.N soldier. However, they were being watched. "Those guys are idiots" Rouge, who was laying on one of the structures over them, said.

"Tails! Look at this!" Cosmo said, reaching some platforms on the outside of the ship. The sun was setting, basking the planet in a yellow-orange glow. "I guess I always took sunsets for granted…" Tails admitted, before his ears drooped. "I'm afraid of nightfall, tonight." Cosmo embraced him. "Don't worry dear!" She said, "We'll drive them off! After all, we make an unstoppable team!" Tails laughed cheerfully slightly. "I guess you're right!" He said. "Tails. This is Galaxina. Come in." Galaxina spoke over a communicator. "Tails here. What's up?" Tails asked, opening his communicator. "I received a written message from Shadow. He said that when we regroup, could it be at an old Eggman base known as Iron Jungle?" "Tell him that we will meet him at Iron Jungle when we complete this mission" Tails said, blasting through the Black Arms soldiers with his blade. "AAHHHHH!!!" Cosmo screamed, backing up in fear. In front of them was a giant Black Arms soldier. "Like Sonic always says" Tails began, holding his blade in a striking position, "The bigger they are, the harder they fall" Tails lunged, wrapping his "chaos chakra" around his katana, and effortlessly defeating the giant. "See?" He asked, only to immediately be embraced by Cosmo. "Oh Tails! I was so scared!" She sobbed. "We'll get through this!" Tails said, making Cosmo look up at him in awe. "I know we will!" Tails said.

"Having a little trouble with those G.U.N agents, are we?" Shadow teasingly asked Doom's Eye. "Pathetic creatures" Doom's Eye replied. "What'd you say?!" Shadow screamed at him. Rouge was listening from a building across from them. "We are not here to exterminate those poor creatures….On the other hand…" Doom's Eye said. "What?" Rouge asked, "What is he saying?" "What do you mean?" Shadow asked. "All will be revealed…..Tomorrow." "Tomorrow?" Rouge asked herself. "Shadow. You should rest" Doom's Eye said as a Black Bull emerged out of the ground. "You need to be ready for tomorrow's ritual." Doom's Eyes said. Shadow growled. "You SCUM! You're going down!" Rouge jumped off the building and took a fighting stance next to Shadow. "What an ugly beast. Finish it off quickly." Rouge said, before attacking the ground soldiers as Shadow started glowing blue. "Chaos…..CONTROL!" Shadow vanished and Black Bull started crying out in pain. Just as Rouge took out the last ground soldier, Black Bull fell to the ground, dead. Shadow reappeared behind it. Shadow said nothing. He just teleported out of the jungle.

Tails and Cosmo walked back to Tails' machine hand-in-hand. "I can't believe you took down three giants that fast!" Cosmo said, smiling. "And I….GAH!" Tails started to reply, but suddenly grasped his left shoulder. "TAILS!" Cosmo said. "I tore a muscle fighting those creatures!" Tails said as he rubbed his left shoulder. "It's all my fault! If I was a better fighter, then you wouldn't have gotten hurt!" Cosmo sobbed. Tails pulled her close. "I'm just glad you're safe." Cosmo looked up. "Really?" "Really" Suddenly, the door to Tails' ship opened and Sonic and the Chaotix stood there. "Well then….looks things are taken care of here!" Sonic said. "Sonic?" Cosmo asked, "How did you and the Chaotix get here?" "Easy." Sonic said, "I used Chaos Control to teleport us to Tails' ship." With that, Sonic passed out, exhausted from using Chaos Control. Tails sighed as he got the ship ready to launch. "I told him to practice Chaos Control more…..but he didn't listen" Tails said out loud.

Shadow reappeared in a large open space on a metal road. Metal rails made loops and twists farther away. The noise of a machine got Shadow's attention. Tail's space machine got his attention, but Shadow noticed a familiar blue hedgehog on it. "What's up, Shadow?" Sonic asked. "Not you again!" Shadow replied, getting annoyed by Sonic's laid-back attitude. "Nice to see you too" Sonic said, "Looks like those black creatures are heading to space, so we're on our way to the Ark." "The Ark? Is Galaxina alright?" Shadow asked. "I'm fine for now Shadow. I'm in a secure area." Galaxina replied over his video communicator. "Let's roll! Next stop: The Ark!" Sonic said as Shadow climbed into the machine and they took off.

"Ark…" Shadow said, gazing at the bottom of the space station where its glowing lights gave it an unreal beauty. "I almost never see it from this angle….This is where I……" Visions of Super Sonic and Super Shadow using Chaos Control to teleport the Ark back into its orbit and Super Shadow falling to a planet went through his mind. "….died?" Flying Black Arms creatures swarmed around the Ark. "Looks like they decided to send a welcome party. C'mon! Time to rock and roll!" Sonic said, before running off to go to the outside. Shadow ran after him. "Galaxina….." Shadow whispered, clenching his fist, "I won't let them hurt you….I promise…"
