Rudolph and Zoey walked closely pressed against each other. Their mothers, Mitzi and Holly (I made up that name as she is never given one), smiled at the interaction. When both young deer had literally run into their houses shouting that they "Had a doefriend/buckfriend", they had been concerned....until they learned who they were dating.

For Zoey's parents, they knew they found an honorable young buck who cherished their daughter, they couldn't ask for very much more.

They were walking with their mothers and Zoey's father, Nimbus (Once again, I made up a name for an unnamed character) to a gathering crowd of elves and deer near Santa's large "garage" near his house-where they would launch the sleigh from.

Occasionally, a small wisp of red chakra escaped Rudolph, and he shivered slightly at the sensation. Son Goku was impatient for the launch after hearing many stories from Mitzi and Rudolph about the Christmas Eve flight. Son Goku himself was no stranger to flight; having spent a large amount of time inside a Jinchuriki (translation: Power of Human Sacrifice) of Iwagakure; the Village Hidden in the Rocks, whose leader, the Tsuchikage, used his Dust Release to use the Flight Technique.

However, the fact that 8 reindeer, without access to chakra pulling a large man in a sleigh full of toys, flew for one night a year was baffling to Son Goku. Thus, he chose a "wait and see" approach.

"This is the first time we've been old enough to see the launch." Zoey said, eyes trailing to Rudolph as a large grin spread across his face.

"Thank goodness  I got to wish dad luck before his flight." Rudolph said, before a wisp of red chakra emerged from the left side of his head and his left eye became completely yellow with a white pupil. "Sorry.....Son Goku is impatient for the launch." Rudolph said as his body shivered, "The worst part about the excited state he's in is that his chakra gets excited, and thus fills me with a lot of energy....I'll have a hard time sleeping tonight."

Zoey giggled slightly at the admission as she pressed herself harder into his side as they slid through the crowd until their mothers picked out a nice spot, their fur gently caressing each other.

"By the way Rudolph...why were you sneaking around my family's Christmas tree with my dad?" Zoey asked.

"I was putting your present under it." Rudolph replied with a proud grin, "I know you said I didn't have to get you anything, but I saw something and it just seemed perfect for you."

Zoey leaned her head against Rudolph, closing her eyes with a small smile.

"Now don't get too comfortable children, the launch will be starting shortly." Holly said as they looked up and the two young fawns noticed a problem with their placement for the first time; having been focused on their talk.

"I....can't see...mom!" Rudolph said, hopping in place. However, Rudolph's statement went unheard as the door opened and Mitzi's focus was locked onto the harnessed Blitzen.

"Oh your father looks so handsome!" She said, her eyes locked onto Blitzen's form. At this Holly and Nimbus shook their heads and nudged the young couple.

"Jump onto our backs." Nimbus said and Zoey jumped up onto her mother's back, nearly sliding off before Nimbus pushed her back up. Rudolph on the other hand, crouched before leaping nearly ten feet into the air and landed perfectly on Nimbus's back. His eyes then locked onto Santa and his dad...watching the deer and sleigh approach closer to the cliff before, with a leap, they were all in the air.  They watched as the figure of the sleigh and flyers got smaller against the light of the moon, Santa's parting words echoing through the sky.

"Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!"

"What do you know, he does have a similar laugh." Son Goku said from within Rudolph's mind.

Rudolph walked down a well worn pathway to a large decoration shaped like two candy canes leaning against each other, their curves held together by a red bow with mistletoe hung in the middle held by the same bow. Zoey walked behind him-eyeing the mistletoe thoughtfully.

"Well Zoey, I think I can finally show you the Version 2 Chakra Cloak. I have permission from Son Goku to show you tonight." He told the doe behind him.

"Really? I thought he wouldn't because it would scare others...wait...oh! We're alone! That's why!" Zoey said, a look of understanding crossing her face. She gave Rudolph a smile as he turned to face her.

"Yeah! Here it goes!" With that Rudolph shut his eyes. Red chakra bubbled up from within him and seemingly surrounded him like a suit of armor. Without warning, there was a loud blast and a small shock-wave from where Rudolph stood kicking up snow and sending it flying.

"I don't care about popularity...I only care about staying by Rudolph's side." She muttered to herself glancing to where Rudolph was, she was not prepared for how drastically different Version 2 was from the Version 1 Chakra Cloak.

Version 1 had a see-through layer of red chakra surrounding him in the shape of Son Goku. Version 2 here....Rudolph's body was blocked completely from view by red and black chakra, only having a general body shape of Rudolph, though greatly altered. Rudolph's front limbs ended in Son Goku's hands, and his mouth had two elongated canines ending with blunt tips. Four tails emerged from Rudolph that were about as long as he was. What got Zoey's attention the moset was his mouth and eyes.

Both were glowing white; a stark contrast to the fact that his body was now red and black, the two colors mingling although never mixing. His eyes showed fear, love, and pride.

"Grrorrrr" Emerged from Rudolph's mouth, before his eyes widened and he jumped up in shock. Without warning, the chakra cloak suddenly vanished.

"Sorry...I can't talk in that chakra cloak." Rudolph said.

Zoey smiled at him. That's when her eyes drifted back to the mistletoe.

"Is it too much to ask to fit in...despite my...nose...?" Rudolph asked, glancing at his large red nose.

"Walk with me Rudolph." She said, turning towards the candy-can like arch.

"You've made me a very happy doe recently by becoming my buckfriend, you do know that right?" Zoey said, stopping underneath the arch. Rudolph was next to her to her left.

"Really? I was thinking I didn't deserve you...truthfully, I don't think anyone does." Rudolph said, causing her to break out into giggles.

"Flatterer." She said.

"I can't explain it. Every time I'm near you, I have this strange desire to protect you from everything that could hurt you; a desire to make sure you are happy." He said.

Her eyes shone with happiness and affection as she glanced upwards. "Oh look...we're under mistletoe." She said. Rudolph's mouth and eyes widened in shock and he glanced upwards, staring at the plant in question.

"You know what that means, right?" Zoey asked, standing proud before whispering.

"You have to kiss me."

Swallowing nervously, Rudolph stepped shyly towards her and lowered his head, puckering his lips as he came closer to her cheek.

She closed her eyes and felt Rudolph kissing her cheek, causing her to smile.

After a few seconds, he pulled back and adverted his head shyly.

"Thank you, Rudolph." She said quietly, "But I think I now owe you a kiss."

Rudolph turned his head towards her and asked "What?"

As soon as the word left his mouth, Zoey had leaned forward and kissed his cheek.

She giggled at the grin that spread across his face as he stared blankly, dazed.

She turned to see her mom walking towards them with a small smile on her face. "It's nice to see you two getting along."

Holly stressed the words "getting along", hinting at the fact she had seen the kisses as Rudolph came out of his stupor.

"Hello ma'am." Rudolph said, smiling shyly.

"How many times have I told you to call me Holly or mom?" She asked. She could hear her daughter whisper something to herself, but could not hear what the words were.

"Sorry Holly. Did something come up?" Rudolph asked.

"Yeah. It's way past your bedtimes." Holly said with a small smile, "Mitzi already went home, I told her Zoey and I would walk you home."

As soon as they dropped off Rudolph, Zoey leaned over and kissed his cheek, walking back home with her mom with a soft giggle as the dazed grin spread across Rudolph's face.

When she got home, Nimbus and Holly talked to each other quietly as Zoey gazed at the star at the top of her tree.

"Zoey...I think there is one present you should open tonight." Nimbus said. He had been with Rudolph when he got the present. It wasn't cheap-and Rudolph had saved up his allowance to pay for it himself.

"I'm sure, when we open presents tomorrow with Blitzen's family, Rudolph would love to hear what you think of his gift." Holly said, pushing the box wrapped in gold paper with a red bow on it to her.

Now Zoey's curiosity was peaked. What could Rudolph had given her (besides the kiss she thought with a smile) that her parents wanted to see her reaction to.

Carefully peeling the wrapping paper revealed a black velvet box-obviously a jewelry box. Eves widening, she opened the box and she teared up in happiness when she saw what was in it.

Resting inside it was a gold heart-shaped locket on a red silk necklace.

Moving it, she slipped the necklace around her head and let it drop around her neck until the gold heart rested over her own heart.

A note slipped out of the box as she stood up to show it off. Glancing at it, a few tears of happiness fell down her cheeks as she read the note.

For Zoey, the doe with a heart of gold.

Love, Rudolph.

She slipped into her room, laying down on the pile of hay that served as her bed and rested her head against her pillow.

She never took off the necklace that night.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Yes, I made up names for Zoey's parents...and an origin for her necklace in the movie.
